I Am – KMAD Dance
8 April 20:00 | 9 April 15:00 & 18:00

I AM- a contemporary dance work, inspired by the haunting photographs of Christian Samson, capturing mood- and mental disorders, such as anxiety, depression, bi-polar and OCD, giving these illnesses ‘physical’ form.

On paper, photographs have an image, but when those images are translated in into movements, those very same images explode into a world that is unique, surprising, original and above all, accessible to Everyman.

“Because it can’t be seen, doesn’t mean damage can’t and hasn’t been done.”

Directed and produced by Kelsey Middleton
Choreographed by Thami Tshabalala, Khaya Ndlovu and Kelsey Middleton

Kmad Dance Company – Thato Nkwe, Xola Willie, Thami Tshabalala, Khaya Ndlovu, Lwanele Masiza, Kristof Skhosana, Kingsley Beukes, Celia Beyleveldt, Justone du Plessis and Thandaza Silwane
